Sandhi's trips to study mosaics in Europe inspired this recent triptych! Three works on canvas started out as paper mosaics, using even smaller squares of hand cut paper to achieve these small outfits. Faces were sourced from ancient paintings and are a micro-mosaic using tiny tiny pieces; little faceted gems. An update to antiquity -- the color scheme is new, the composition has been changed; this was a fun detour and a nod to the past - a way for Sandhi to acknowledge one of her original inspirations that got her into working with tile, glass -- and then paper!
